Rob's Blog

Over the past months, we have seen a systematic assault on women by Republicans.  An excellent editorial piece in the New York Times: The War on Women states the specifics.  The Republican budget, released by no other than Paul Ryan, would demolish critical social programs that help protect the most vulnerable and serve as a safety net for the middle-class.  Among those parts of the Republican proposal that most affect women is a transformation of Medicare into a voucher system where seniors would have to pay considerably more out-of-pocket expenses. In addition, funds for Medicaid, the largest federal program helping low-income women obtain reproductive health services, would be slashed. Ryan's budget also suspends Medicaid support for nursing homes, which serves many older and disabled women.

I have been waiting for this moment to provide some input on the campaign rumor mill (Yes. It is alive and well.  Thank you very much!)  Next time someone asks, “Is it true that…” I will conveniently refer them to my blog!

So what can I tell you about my husband that you may not see on the campaign trail?

I've followed Paul Ryan for years, as well as throughout my husband Rob's campaign. I wanted to write to you because I think there are some issues that need to be discussed that affect women's rights.

On Meet the Press this Sunday, Paul Ryan said that denying contraception to women was a "religious freedom" issue for health care providers. I disagree.

How did it then come about Rob entering the race?

Hi. I am Cornelia Zerban.  Rob Zerban is my husband.  He also happens to be the candidate challenging Paul Ryan in the 1st Congressional District. I decided to provide you with the “inside scoop” on the campaign.
